“Mask Up” Reminder

There has been a lot of information circulating about face coverings. A Face Covering is required at all times while working on a construction site. This is mandatory for ALL workers and ALL projects.

The Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections released a "Mask Up" reminder to all contractors "that WITHOUT EXCEPTION, all construction workers at a jobsite MUST wear a mask at all times unless they are in the act of eating or drinking." Contractors will be fined for non-compliance.

Face coverings must be made of a solid material, min. 2-ply, and fully cover the mouth and nose with a design that includes a tighter fit around the nasal bridge, cheeks and chin. And as a reminder, it is advised that all workers wash their hands after removing a mask and before touching their face.

Prohibited coverings include those with exhalation valves, holes (such as lace or mesh), neck gaiters, and bandanas. Face shields may be worn in addition to a face covering, but a face shield is not an alternative or replacement for a face covering. A face covering is required at all times!

The dark fabric masks distributed with elastic ear loops or behind the head straps are acceptable. You may hang on to the Burgundy Dale neck gaiter for your own personal use, but this is no longer recognized as an acceptable means of PPE and does not satisfy the requirement for wearing a face covering.

One mask does not fit all, so find out which works best for you. This requirement is not going to change in the near foreseeable future.
