Enable System

The enable system prevents unintentional movements of the  MEWP. If the operator releases the enable switch, all machine  operations stop. Examples of JLG MEWP enable systems  include:

  • Foot switches
  • Trigger switches
  • Function enable buttons

Foot Switch

•The footswitch on a JLG MEWP must be depressed and held  down before any function is allowed •JLG foot switches have a 7-second timer

-Once the footswitch is depressed, the operator has seven seconds to  operate a function before the enable system times out

-If no function is selected the footswitch must be released and then depressed again before selecting a new function

Trigger Switch

•The trigger switch on a JLG MEWP must be pulled in and held  before any function is allowed

•JLG trigger switches have a 3-second timer

–Once the trigger switch is squeezed, the operator has three seconds to  operate a function before the enable system times out

–If no function is selected the trigger switch must be released and then depressed again before selecting a new function

Function Enable Button

•The Function Enable button must be pushed in and held in to  allow a function to operate

–  Hold the enable button while selecting another function

Emergency Stop Switch

Boom Lift Proportional Controls

•Both the Lift/Swing and Drive/Steer controllers on the Boom  Lift platform control box are proportional controls with the  exception of the steer switch

•Steering is not proportional

Scissor Lift Proportional Controls

•The Drive/Lift controller on the JLG Scissor Lift platform  control box is a proportional control with the exception of the  steer switch

•Steering is not proportional
