Familiarization

Familiarization – is the process of  “providing the necessary  information to a qualified person or trained operator  regarding the features, functions, devices, limitations and  operating characteristics in order to properly utilize a specific  model of equipment, to include the manufacturer’s operation  manual and current ANSI A92 manual of responsibility.”

Familiarization shall include the following topics:​

• Identification of the location for the manual(s) storage​
• Requirement for confirmation that the required manual(s) specified by​ the manufacturer are with the MEWP​
• Purpose and function of the controls specific to the model of MEWP to  be used​
• Features, limitations and devices​
• Operating characteristics specific to the model of the MEWP
